    MERCI Mission Center in great need
    The MERCI Mission Center has a great need of operational funding.  Individuals are invited into this opportunity of sustaining this NC Conference connectional mission ministry.  Edenton Street UMC has given a gift of $10,000 to the MERCI Mission Center and is raising a challenge to all conference churches of giving a gift of $2.50 per member toward center.  The life of MERCI Mission Center depends individuals, and through it, so too do the lives of tens of thousands of the most vulnerable in the world.  Donations can be made on-line at:  MERCI Mission Center or by placing a gift in the Sunday offering designating it as:  Advance #S-00136 – MERCI Ministry Center . 

    Treasurer has job opening for Accounts Receivable Specialist
    The Conference Treasurer's Office is seeking a full-time Accounts Receivable Specialist for its Raleigh office.  The position will be responsible for full cycle accounts receivable functions and part-time receptionist duties.  Organizational skills, attention to detail and MS Office knowledge required.  Prefer two-year business or accounting degree and office/accounting experience.  Salary will be commensurate with experience.  E-mail resume to helpdesk@nccumc.org for consideration.  Full job description is available at Conference Employment .  Posting open through Dec. 2.

    Hispanic/Latino benefit concert on Dec. 8
    A benefit concert presenting Traditional Andean Music of “Vientos del Sur” and more will be held at Duke Memorial UMC ( 504 W.     Large church training event
    “Making a World of Difference” is the theme of the Large Church Initiative National Training Event Jan. 21-28, 2008 at St. Luke's UMC in Orlando , Fla.   The event is geared for churches with worship attendance greater than 350. In addition to inspiration, tools will be shared for lead pastors, associate pastors, staff, and lay leaders of larger churches.  Details and registration information is available at: St Luke .

    UMCOR Responds to Cyclone Sidr  
    Super Cyclone Sidr, a deadly category four storm, battered the already-struggling nation of Bangladesh on Nov. 16.  As the death count continues to rise by the thousands and survivors struggle to recover their homes, livelihoods and sense of safety, the United Methodist Committee on Relief is working to respond.   To give to UMCOR's work in response to Cyclone Sidr, please make a check payable to UMCOR and mail it to UMCOR PO Box 9068, New York , NY 10087.  “UMCOR Advance #202400, Bangladesh Emergency” should be written on the memo line of the check.  One hundred percent of every donation to any appeal, including appeals for Bangladesh , goes to support the designated program.  Donations can also be placed in the Sunday morning offering plate or given online at:  Cyclone Sidr Response .  For more information please see – UMCOR Responds to Sidr

    Give ZOE Christmas Cards and touch the life of a child in need

    ZOE - World AIDS Day and Worship Service
    The ZOE Team has a new member working in service to Christ in Africa .  Come to this celebration of life and ministry - "GIVING HOPE: Empowering Orphans," and meet Epiphanie Mujawimana, ZOE director of Empowerment Projects, a ministry for empowering orphans and other high-risk children.  Epiphanie will be speaking at the service.  The event will be on Saturday, Dec. 1, 5 - 6:30 pm.     Missionary needs your Support
    Vickie Sigmon, is one of the NC Conference sponsored missionaries serving as a Church and Community Worker in Winston-Salem ,  (Advance #982916).
