Pilgrimage – Oct. 22 registration deadline, 8X10 or larger photos requested
Pilgrimage for UMC youth groups will be Nov. 9-11 at the Crown Coliseum in Fayetteville . The registration deadline for groups is Oct. 22. The registration form may be found in the 2007 Pilgrimage brochure mailed twice to pastors and local church youth coordinators, most recently in August. The brochure is available on the “Events” listing on the conference website or click on Youth Ministry . Confirmation materials for registrations received will begin going out in mid-October.
New for 2007 – a request from youth groups attending Pilgrimage. This year's theme is “If We are the Body.” For stage visuals, 8 x 10 photographs of youth groups are needed. Youth groups should send their best photo printed on 8x10 size (or larger) paper to Youth Ministry, PO Box 10955 , Raleigh , NC 27605 by Friday, Nov. 2. Prints will be used as part of the stage visuals at Pilgrimage. Please note – photos cannot be accepted via e-mail. Only photo prints, 8X10 or larger can be used. Smaller size photos cannot be used and any print submitted cannot be returned.
Living in covenant with Christ and One Another is event theme
“The Methodist Way : Living in Covenant with Christ and One Another” is the theme for a day apart open to anyone on Nov. 1 at Daniels UMC in Goldsboro . Registration deadline is Oct 25.
Leading the event will be Mary Jane Pierce Norton, from the General Board of Discipleship. Sponsoring the event is the NC Conference Chapter of Christian Educators Fellowship.

Great Pumpkin Run/Walk to support Disciple Bible Outreach Ministries
On Oct. 27, the inaugural Great Pumpkin 5K Run and 1 Mile Walk for Disciple Bible Outreach Ministries will be held in Jamestown , beginning at Jamestown UMC, 403 E. Main Street , Jamestown , NC 27282 . The 5K Run will begin at 10 am with the Walk to follow at 10:10 am. Registration is $15, and forms can be obtained from the DBOM website at Disciple Bible , at the Jamestown UMC office, the Ragsdale YMCA or by calling the DBOM office at 336-434-8612.
UMM annual gathering is Oct. 27 in Goldsboro
NC Conference United Methodist Men will hold their annual gathering in Goldsboro Saturday, Oct. 27 at St. Paul UMC. Featured speaker is the new General Secretary and national executive for UMM, the Rev. David Adams. A major emphasis of the gathering will be the transition of UMM from just a meet and eat fellowship to a comprehensive and all-encompassing men's ministry, reaching out to men of all ages in different ways, within and outside the church, calling them to accountability, Christian service and Spiritual growth. Registration will begin at 9:30 am with the program at 10 am in the fellowship hall of the church. Barbecue and Chicken lunch will be served. Cost is $10 per. The program is expected to end at 2 p.m.
Treasurer/Finance Training
Two separate sessions of Local Church Treasurer/Finance Training will be held on Saturday, Nov. 3, and Saturday, Dec.1, 10 am-2:30 pm at the United Methodist Building in Raleigh . Some of the topics to be covered include apportionments, W-2 preparation, sales tax filing and reimbursements, employee vs. contractor status, etc. A $5 registration fee will be collected to help offset the cost of lunch. Join Bishop Gwinn in tracing Paul's 4 th missionary journey
Interested in tracing Paul's fourth missionary journey with Bishop Gwinn and other United Methodists in November of 2008 on a cruise starting in Athens and ending in Rome ? If so, you are invited to a free meal on Monday, Nov.19, 2007, either lunch at FUMC Wilson at 12 noon or supper at Hay Street UMC in Fayetteville at 6 pm. Bishop Gwinn and Ed Crump from Educational Opportunities will be at both sites. A tour host needs only to recruit five people to earn a free trip. Youth Service Fund Grants
Applications for Youth Service Fund grants are due Dec. 15. The grants will be awarded in early 2008. Applications must be from ministries that assist young people and would not represent typical youth group activities (such as mission workteams). The application is available at Youth Ministry by selecting “Youth Service Fund” on the top left.
