Council-of-Bishops provides documents for study
The Council-of-Bishops has provided a copy of the statement by Pope Benedict XVI on June 29 and response from the executive committee of the council. The council is suggesting the documents be used in worship services and study groups, including Sunday school classes. The full documents are available for downloading from: Pope, Council Statements
Two conference positions open

A permanent, part-time receptionist/administrative assistant is needed at the United Methodist Building in Raleigh. Twenty-five hours a week. Golf tournament proceeds to assist MERCI

Becoming an effective disciple-making, equipping church
"Shifting to a Culture of Equipping in your Congregation" is the title of a seminar for clergy and lay leaders from small, medium, and large-sized churches who are seeking to learn how to become an effective disciple-making and equipping congregation. The leader is Charlie Halley a layperson and executive director of Covenant UMC, Winterville. Date and time: Oct. 30, 9 am -4 pm at St. Mark's UMC, 4801 Six Forks Road, Raleigh. Health Ministries Conference set for Sept. 23-26
"Empowering Ministries of Health: Starting, Implementing and Advancing" will be the focus of the third annual National Congregational Health Ministries Conference Sept. 23-26 in Wichita, Kansas. Two scholarships per annual conference are available and spaces are still available. The registration deadline is Sept. 1.
