College students and campus ministry
Many college students are visiting their prospective campus as part of orientations this month. Please make college-bound students aware of our United Methodist ministry on college and university campuses through Wesley Foundations and Fellowships. Send the names and contact information for students to the respective UM chaplain or Wesley Foundation campus minister that information might be sent directly to the student about the ministries at their respective schools. Leadership from youth at Pilgrimage
The deadline for youth group acts of worship, youth group videos, youth house band applications and youth testimony submissions for Pilgrimage is August 31. 300 years of Charles Wesley - Exhibit at Duke
"Sacred Harmony: The Musical Wesley Family" is an exhibit at Duke University's Divinity School Library. It features the hymns and poems written by four generations of the Wesley family, and includes original manuscripts and rare books.
The exhibit continues through Aug. 1, and is open during library hours, 8-5 Mon.-Fri. It is free; each attendee receives a keepsake with transcriptions of many of the Wesley letters. Mission Team to La Esperanza Sheltered Workshop in Santiago, Chile
Slots are available for a "journey inward - journey outward" with missionary, the Rev. Shana Harrison, Nov.12 - 21. Estimated cost is $1075 ai rfare, $100 for a one-time entry fee for Chile, and in-country cost will be approximately $500 (may be some slight changes.) Each day will begin with communion and centering prayer. Mornings will be with the participants of the workshop. The afternoons will be filled with bible study, biblical animation, and visits to historical and contemporary sites where we might engage in considerations of justice. Evenings will be reflections of the lives of individuals in Christ as incarnational dwelling. Mozart serves in western Africa as an agriculturalist who proclaims the love and grace of Jesus by assisting indigent farmers in learning how to grow their way out of deep and crippling poverty. The Way of the Child Training

Creating Disciple-Making Faith Communities

Environmentally friendly design in rural North Carolina churches
A two-day conference, called "Trends in Modern Church Architecture: The Artistry of Greening of Our Churches," will explore ways to implement environmentally friendly building design in rural North Carolina churches.
