    MERCI has a need for kit supplies and or money for kit supplies (flood buckets, health and school kits, etc.) With summer here and the greater presence of migrant labor, MERCI has a great need for health kit supplies, especially towels, soap, tooth paste, and deodorant.     Ecumenical liturgy honoring worker justice struggles

    Fall learning events in the Academy for Leadership Excellence
    October 30, 2007: “Shifting to a Culture of Equipping in your Congregation.”  The seminar leader is Charlie Halley a layperson and executive director of Covenant United Methodist Church.  This seminar is for clergy and lay leaders from small, medium, and large-sized congregations who are seeking to learn how to become an effective disciple-making and equipping congregation.  9:00-4:00 at St. Mark's UMC, 4801 Six Forks Road, Raleigh.  Cost: $49 registration fee includes lunch, copy of Halley book, and course materials. 
    November 6 and 7, 2007:  “Church Planter and Leader Team Tune-Up Seminar” will be held for lay and clergy leaders of our conference new church projects at Edenton Street UMC, Raleigh, NC, facilitated by Rev. Jim Griffith.  Tuesday, 8:30 – 5:00 and Wednesday, 8:30 – 12:30.  NCCUMC participants: $39 registration fee which includes lunch on Tuesday.
    November 7 and 8, 2007:  “How to Identify and Assess New Church Start Pastors” will train lay and clergy leaders who are responsible for identifying and assessing the leadership for new conference projects.  The training will be at Edenton Street UMC, Raleigh, NC, facilitated by Rev. Jim Griffith.  Registration for Session 1 begins at 1:30 pm on November 7 and proceeds to late afternoon; Session 2 is on November 8, from 8:30-12:30.
