    Are you getting two copies?
    Clergy please note: During this time of transition with the new clergy e-mail addresses, two copies of this edition may be received. To insure that clergy receive the edition, both the regular mailing list and the new clergy list are being used. In a month of two only the clergy list will be used. If clergy want their address removed from the older mailing list, send a message with the address to be removed to bnorton@nccumc.org

    Is there a problem with a clergy e-mail account?
    Clergy experiencing problems with their new clergy e-mail account should send a message to dward@nccumc.org explaining the problem. Include name, ID, and new Password. If an e-mail message cannot be sent, call Douglas Ward at 1-800-849-4433.

    Colleague Forum for Pastors
    Colleague Forum for Pastors is now accepting applications for Colleague Forum #3. The Forum is a two-year experience of spiritual formation, focusing on worship, study, and spiritual community. The Forum runs from July 2006 through May 2008, meeting once a quarter --- three days and nights at Avila Retreat Center in Durham -- for a total of eight sessions.     The Junaluska Singers
    The Lake Junaluska Singers will be in concert at Garner UMC on Tuesday, July 25, 7 pm in the Christian Life Center. Advance ticket sales are required. Tickets are $5.00 and may be picked up at the church (201 Methodist Drive, Garner, NC 27529) or and order and check may be sent to PO Box 2179. Ordered tickets can be picked up on the evening of the concert at the “Will Call” table.
    The Junaluska Singers will also perform in the Sanford District at Smyrna UMC (203 Smyrna Church Road, Robbins 28314) on July 29 at 2 pm. The performance, sponsored by the Sanford District Board of Laity, is open to the public without charge.

    School of Christian Mission
    Fayetteville, NC - The North Carolina Conference School of Christian Mission will take place July 26-29 at Methodist College in Fayetteville. The event begins Wednesday July 26 with registration from 3 - 9 pm. This year's theme is “Harvesting Peace”. Participants will be able to choose their courses of study from offerings including India & Pakistan; Globalization: Its Impact on Our Lives; Youth Leader Study, and more.     Weekday ministries with children workshop scheduled for August 19
    Through the Eyes of a Child: Weekday Ministries with Children Workshop will be held on Saturday, August 19 at Highland UMC in Raleigh from 9:30am to 2:00pm. This workshop is designed for leaders and teachers with weekday children’s ministry programs in local churches such as preschool, parent’s morning out, and afterschool. The cost of the workshop is $20 per person and includes lunch. Participants must pre-register by August 7.     Advanced worship for safe sanctuaries
    Save the dates: Friday October 27 at Garner UMC and Saturday, October 28 at Queen St UMC in Kinston – a follow-up, “advanced” workshop for safe sanctuaries called Living Into Safe Sanctuaries and dealing with issues of implementation of safe sanctuaries policy and procedures. Joy Melton, author of the books on Safe Sanctuaries will be the key facilitator assisted by resource people from Prevent Child Abuse of NC. Watch for further information regarding registration.

    Applications for Award of Excellence in youth ministry
    Award of Excellence in Youth Ministry applications are due August 31. The award is presented at Pilgrimage to the recipient youth group. The application may be downloaded from the Conference website at www.nccumc.org/youthministry .

    August 31 deadline for stage participation at Pilgrimage
    Pilgrimage youth group and stage participation: any youth groups desiring to offer an act of worship on stage at Pilgrimage, any individual youth desiring to make application for consideration with the house band, any youth willing to offer and testimony at Pilgrimage and any youth group planning to submit a video from their youth group at Pilgrimage must do so by August 31. The application for the house band is available from Sue Ellen Nicholson at senicholson@nccumc.org. The video is due by mail to Youth Ministry, PO Box 10955, Raleigh, NC 27605 and must meet the video requirements. Contact the Office of Youth Ministries with further questions.

    Tony Campolo to speak for ZOE
    Tony Campolo will speak for ZOE on September 15, 7 pm, Edenton Street UMC, Raleigh. Tickets are $40. The purchase of a ticket will enable ZOE to buy the equivalent of one new outfit and 100 servings of food for a child. More information available later. Please set this date on your calendar.     Reverse-Mission Team to La Esperanza Sheltered Workshop in Santiago, Chile
    Ten slots are available for a “journey inward – journey outward” with the Rev. Shana Harrison, missionary. Each day will begin with communion and centering prayer. Morning hours will be spent with participants of the workshop. The afternoons will be filled with Bible study, Biblical animation, and visits to historical and contemporary sites where we might engage in considerations of justice. Reflections on our lives in Christ as incarnatinal dwelling will be held during the evening. Dates are April 20 – May 2, 2007. Estimated cost will be $1250 for airfare and $500 for in-country expenses (may be some slight changes).     Some campus ministry DVDs still available
    During the Annual Conference Celebration of Ministry with College Students on Thursday, June 15, a DVD that shares the story of our United Methodist ministry of higher education through church-related colleges and campus ministry was distributed. Some additional copies of this DVD are still available. Please contact senicholson@nccumc.org if you did not receive a copy at Annual Conference but would like to have one to share this story within a local church.
