    Revelation with Mickey Efird
    This Lay Academy of Religion class begins Wednesday morning, April 19, 9:30 am, at Epworth UMC in Durham for the first class in this four week course. For additional information: www.divinity.duke.edu/layacademy. Register onsite.

    Conference Youth Rally Day

    The Conference Youth Rally Day will be Sunday, April 23 at NC Wesleyan College in Rocky Mount from 3-6pm. The Rally will be held on the south lawn of the campus, weather permitting. In the event of inclement weather the Rally will be held in the College Gym. Recreational fellowship activities will begin at 3pm. The Cardinal Singers youth choir from the Red Bird Mission in Kentucky will give a brief concert at center stage. After gathering activities at 4:30pm the Rally will conclude with a worship service ending at approximately 6pm. There is no cost to attend and registration is not required. There will be an offering taken for Youth Service Fund and refreshments as well as new Youth Service Fund t-shirts and hoodies will be available for purchase. All youth groups are invited to join in this time of celebration.

    Duke Laity Weekend

    Worship and study during Laity Weekend, April 28 – 29. This event features a keynote lecture Reading the Old Testament through the Eyes of the Gospel Writers by Dr. Richard Hays on Friday evening, preaching by Dr. Paul Chilcote on Saturday morning, and eight classes to choose from during the day on Saturday.     An evening of music and Gospel singing

    “Unity through Christian Music,” a unique historic event, will be held at the Dunn Center on the campus of NC Wesleyan College in Rocky Mount Saturday evening, April 29. The evening will include performances by Rocky Mount area singers and choirs and will feature Wintley Phippes, one of the greatest Gospel singers in the world.     Attention Lay and Clergy member of the Annual Conference

    Children’s March

    The Children’s March on the State Capitol with the Western NC Conference will be held Tuesday, June 20 starting at the Youth Center (Jones St) of Edenton St UMC in downtown Raleigh at 1:00pm. Groups planning to participate must pre-register via the website –www.umchildrenmarch.org. Registration by group may be done online or via downloadable registration form. The registration deadline is May 19. Also available at the website are curriculum resources for use with adults and children. In May, upon registration, confirmation information and further details will be sent to groups registering. A satellite location in Elizabeth City is available to those with too far to travel to Raleigh.

    Trail Hike

    High school youth with interest in backpacking and mountain hiking are encouraged to register for the Appalachian Trail Hike, June 24 to July 1. The Trail Hike involves a backpacking hike of just over 40 miles along the Appalachian Trail. Groups hike a section each day and camp along the Trail over the week. The cost of the Trail Hike is $125 and the registration deadline is May 15.     N .C. Five Day Academy for Spiritual Formation

    A fifth Five-Day Academy in North Carolina will be offered at the Trinity Center in Salter Path beginning Sunday, October 1, and ending Friday, October 6. The cost is $650.00.     Colleague Forum for Pastors

    Colleague Forum for Pastors is now accepting applications for Colleague Forum #3. The Forum is a two-year experience of spiritual formation, focusing on worship, study, and spiritual community. Forum #3 runs July 2006 through May of 2008, meeting once a quarter — three days and nights at beautiful Avila Retreat Center in Durham, for a total of eight sessions.
