Wesley Seminary will be having a course in its
Equipping Lay Ministry program, "Introduction to Prison
Ministry", a 2 credit hour course which can be taken for
seminary credit or noncredit, CEUS. Lay persons and pastors
will find it useful. It will be held March 18 and 25 and May 13
and 27 at the Va UM Assembly Center in Blackstone, VA. There
will be a field trip to the prison where the instructor serves
as a part of the course on March 25th. Registration can be found

Linda Harris
held a news conference with the Advisory Board for Prisons
Tuesday,
September 3 at First Baptist Church in Raleigh. She focused on the
proposed state prison chaplain cuts.
Ken Ripley is working to set
up prison tours that DCOMs can offer to local congregants so they can
see what a prison and prison ministry are like. He is doing the
legwork necessary to set up these tours. Watch this space for
